- To assist and work with trained nurse in charge to implement and evaluate care plans
- To undertake some basic nursing jobs following specific training, e.g. blood pressure basic dressings
- To maintain a helpful, friendly and professional attitude to all clients, realtives and visitors

Job Title: Care Supervisor Accountable to: TRAINED NURSE IN CHARGE
Minimum requirements: NVQ 3 or equivelant with 3 years experence at a senior level Job Description - To assist clients with all their activites - To promote and maintain dignity, privacy respect and independence - To assist and work with trained nurse in charge to implement and evaluate care plans - To undertake some basic nursing jobs following specific training, e.g. blood pressure basic dressings - To maintain a helpful, friendly and professional attitude to all clients, realtives and visitors - Assist the Trained Nurse in preparing residents for examination or treatment - Co-ordinate the ordering, storage and distribution of pads - Ensure that bedrooms are left clean and tidy - Delegate tasks to junior members of staff
- To adminster bladder washouts to residents who are catheterised
- To administer rectal Diazapam to residents who suffer from seizures (once trained to do so)
- To assist/undetake more complex dressings
- To assess prospective clients with a trained member of staff

Monitor the standard within the framework of the Company’s quality standards, clinical protocols and operational policies. 3. Ensure effective communication exists between staff, residents, carers and other members of the multi-disciplinary care team. 4. Maintain an environment for residents, carers and staff that is safe and suitable. 5. Keep professional and clinical skills up to date and maintain a personal commitment to professional development. 6. Participate in staff development programme. 7. Set and maintain a high standard of resident care by personal example and conduct. 8. Report and Liaise with other members of the ward team. 9. Ensure effective deployment of nursing staff taking appropriate action at times of staff shortage. 10. Assist Management that all new staff complete a proper induction programme. 11. Provide effective mentor-ship for those care assistants undertaking NVQ training. 12. Deal with any complaints sensitively and report these to Management.

CRITICAL CARE RESPONSIBILITES These duties are in addition to those listed in the RGN job description: 1. Responsible in the assessment, planning, and implementing nursing intervention for patients/clients needing critical care focusing on the holistic needs. 2. Accepts responsibilities delegated by head nurse or team leader. 3. Identify obvious patient problems, symptoms, behavioural changes and deviations from normal. 4. Document assessments, interventions and patient reactins/responses. 5. Report abnormal data/finding to Nurse In Charge and to Physicin as directed. 6. Implement nursing care plan and medical plan of care as delegated. 7. Provide specialist skills especially in managing patients with compromised breathing with tracheotomy in situ, on continuous oxygenation and on a ventilator. 8. Provide specialist care and management of patients with compromised Nutritional needs i.e. patients who are peg fed and patients receiving nutrition via naso-gastric tube. 9. State principles underlying nursing interventions.. 10. Anticipate variables affecting patient care. 11. Evaluate consequences of nursing and medical intervention/activites. 12. Identify legal consequences of nursng actions. 13. Identify personal strengths and limitations. 14.Seek assistance, information and/or supervision relative to nursing actions for which the RN lacks experience or knowledge, questions appropriateness of order/intervention, or identifies unsafe patient care practices. 15.Guide care given by other personnel on the nursing health care team as Requested. 16. Seek education opportunities to increase clinical competence.
